It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Martin Keith Coon, Jr. (Marty). He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Marty passed away on December 27th, 2024, at the age of 77. Surrounded by his loving family, Martin left this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love.
Born on September 11, 1947, in Stapleton, Marty was the cherished son of Martin Keith Coon Sr. and Helen Marie (Dudley) Coon. After serving honorably in the United States Army, he worked as a transport driver until his retirement. He loved his country and was a true patriot at heart. On March 2, 1968, Marty married Judith Kay (Anderson) Coon, the love of his life. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. They built a life filled with love, laughter, and a shared passion for animals, treasuring several beloved dogs over the years. Marty found great joy in spending time with his family, cracking cheesy jokes, and taking golf cart rides around Waldron. He loved relaxing on his front porch, cherishing moments at the Ohio River with his wife Judy, and finding peace in his faith in Jesus. Marty will be deeply missed by his children, Keith Coon and his wife Shannon, his grandchildren, Mitchell Coon, Taylor Coon and his wife Kaitlynn, and Macy Collins along with her husband Codey. He adored his great-grandchildren, Madeline, Alexander, and Nathaniel, as well as his niece, Hannah Anderson. Funeral arrangements will take place on Friday, January 10th, 2025. The showing will be held at Legacy Funeral Home located1604 Morris Street in Indianapolis from 12-1 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1 PM. A graveside service will take place afterward at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. Friends and family are invited to honor his memory. Marty’s presence was a blessing to all who knew him, and his boisterous laugh will forever echo in our hearts. We take comfort in knowing he has found peace and eternal rest with our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
