Mary E. Derringer, age 85, of Anderson, passed away on May 15, 2022, at her home. She was born in Alabama on August 15, 1936, to the late Lewis and Grace Claspell.
Mary was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. She was always willing to help anyone that needed it no matter what. She was an avid animal lover and would help rehabilitate animals as much as she could. She loved to spend her time dancing, cooking, listening to music, gardening, and being with family, especially her grandkids. Her license plate read “Shady Lady” and she couldn’t have been prouder of that. She was a wonderful cook. She could tell you off in the nicest way possible and most of the time you wouldn’t have even known it. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary is survived by her sons Allen Wilber (Karen) and Jerry Wilber (Jenee); grandchildren Mark Allen Wilber, Jeremy Wilber, David Reed (Jeanne), Cheyenne McKinney (Elliott), and Stephanie Sellars (Junior); great-grandchildren Jerica, Jalissa, Rayna, Dakota, Piper, Colt, Eryka, Strider, Kylie, Milo, and Lainey; siblings Mildred Ridge, Reba Burgess, Charles Claspell, and John Claspell; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents listed above, first husband Roy Wilber, second husband Bill Derringer, daughters Sue Voorhis (Wilber), Lisa Wilber, and Vicki Fitzsimmons. Siblings James Claspell, Ogal Claspell, Paul Claspell, Naoma Ruth Claspell, Berdina Tirey Lynch, and Wiladen King.
Cremation was chosen through Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
