Mary Elisabeth Perius

Mary Elisabeth Rich Perius, 87, of Lawrence, peacefully went to be with our dear heavenly Father on September 26, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 16, 1934 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Roy and Nellie (Turner) Rich. Mary graduated from Manual High School in 1952. She married Duane Roy Perius, Sr., on April 16, 1952 and worked as a homemaker, while raising her six wonderful children.

Mary was a member of Missionary Free Christian Church for over 44 years. Mary was passionate about her Christian faith and was a very giving person. She was a volunteer for many, many years at various organizations.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Duane Roy Perius, Sr.; parents, mentioned above; along with her daughter, Darnell Perius, daughter-in law, Donna Perius, and granddaughter, Cara Minor.

Mary is survived by her children, Duane Perius, Jr., Noblesville, Terri Steves (David), Linton, IN, Jeff Perius (former wife, Marsha), Indianapolis, Vicki Whalen (Mark), Indianapolis, and Steve (Lisa) Perius, Indianapolis. Mary is survived by her grandson, Joshua Bates, whom she raised. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, all of whom she adored.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with a gathering to start at 10 am. Mary’s final resting place will be at Oaklandon Cemetery, Oaklandon, IN.
