Mary “Greta” Margaret Wilkins
Indianapolis
Age 88, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018. Born February 18, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Rosemary Keefer. Greta graduated in 1948 from St. John the Baptist High School in Pittsburgh. Prior to Gretta’s illness, she was an active and long-time member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Indianapolis. She was part of the Church’s Women’s Bowling League, Ladies Auxiliary, and a weekly rosary group.
Greta was married to William “Bill” Wilkins Jr. for 40 years, before his passing in 1989. Greta and Bill had 11 children; Irene Wilkins, Jeanette Wilkins, Phillip Wilkins, Carol Wilkins, Theresa Wagner (Michael), Christine Ross (Riley Hauser), William Wilkins (Paula), Jeffrey Wilkins (Juanita), Denise Renick (Terence), Margo Hoaglin (Joseph), and Laura Smith (Christopher). She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy “Dittie” Jaworski, Barbara “Babbs” Wilkins, Francis “Frankie” McGough; and her brother, Steven Keefer. Greta also had 23 grand-children, 34 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with a rosary at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am on Friday, December 7, 2018 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 4650 N. Shadeland Avenue. Burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Fishers, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
