Mary L. Downes

Mary Louise Downes, age 74, of Frankfort, went to be with Jesus on September 27, 2021 at IU Health Arnett Hospital. She was born on June 10, 1947, the daughter of the late Beveridge and Ann (Eytchison) Roberts.

Mary was one of the kindest people you could ever come across. There was never a person she wasn’t willing to give to. She wore her heart on her sleeve and didn’t have a mean bone in her body. It was very hard for her to say no to anyone. She was extremely giving to a fault. She touched the lives of so many people throughout her life.

Mary’s grandchildren were her entire world and would spend all her time with them. She loved to travel with her husband to the Smokies, gospel concerts, or just live the simple life drinking lemonade on the porch listening to her birds. She was friendly, outgoing, and didn’t know a stranger. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Dale Downes; children Paul Downes (Carie) and Jennifer Braun; grandchildren Macie, Riley, Hayden, Jamey, and Aubrey; sister Janie McBride (Tom); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents listed above and 3 cousins.

A visitation will be held on Friday October 1, 2021 from 12-230pm with a funeral Service beginning at 230pm at North Anderson Wesleyan Church, 1947 E County Road 240 N, Anderson, IN 46012. Pastor Mark Arnett will be officiating. Burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery.
