Max Eugene Murrell, 57, of Anderson, passed away December 26th, 2020 with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with ALS.
He was born on November 14th, 1963 to James and Janice Murrell. Max graduated from Frankton High School in 1982, after which serving 4 years in the Navy.
He was a member of IBEW Local 281 serving as a Union Rep for 16 years. He retired as a Line Foreman from Anderson Light and Power in 2019.
Max was a big hearted and a giving person who tried to hide behind a sometimes-rough exterior, but those who knew him were aware of his true compassion and kindness. Max loved to coach and teach youngsters in baseball and basketball. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially around a backyard campfire, hanging out with friends and family. In true Max nature, he was able to share his heart with several recipients. Being able to help other people is something Max truly wanted to do at the end of his life. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Max is survived by his wife Lori, of 33 years; son Blake (Audrey) Murrell; daughter Jordan (Matt) Barnett; Mother Janice Murrell; brother James (Anita) Murrell; sister Bobbie McIntyre; grandchildren Easton, Tatum and little Max; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father James Murrell.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Association.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 from 3-6:30pm at The Millcreek Civic Center in Chesterfield, Indiana. For all friends and family who would like to join in the procession, we will be departing Legacy at 1:45pm to escort Max to Millcreek Civic Center. Military honors will be held at 2pm upon arrival at Millcreek. Funeral services were handled by Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.
