The Lord called home Melissa “Missy” Renee Scott (Dyer), 54, of Indianapolis, IN on May 3, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born on April 4, 1970, to Kenneth Dyer and Dana (Adams) McGlothin in the beautiful hills of Hazard, KY. Missy graduated from Southport High School in 1988. She was known as a free spirit, with the kindest heart, true and loyal to her friends and family.
Throughout her life, Missy touched the lives of so many with her genuine warmth and infectious laughter, it was hard not to laugh when she was laughing. Whether it was through her kind words, compassionate deeds, or simply her comforting presence, she had a unique ability to uplift and comfort those around her. Her impact on the lives she touched is immeasurable, and her memory will forever remain a source of comfort.
In her leisure time, Missy found joy in spending time with her grandson, tending to her plants, crafting, and spending quality time laughing with her loved ones. As a true testament of how much she loved and centered her life around the ones she loved most, her walls were filled with those she loved and held closest to her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Dyer.
Missy is survived by her daughter, Chelsea Castle; son, Robert (Jesse) Castle; grandson, Silas Castle; mother, Dana McGlothin; step-father, Raymond McGlothin; siblings, Nick McGlothin, Denae Switzer; along with many extended family members and friends.
As we say goodbye to Missy on this earth, let us take solace in the memories we shared and the love that will forever endure. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
