Michael Claude Harmeson, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019. He was born on December 2, 1947 in Indianapolis to the late Claude Thomas and Jeanette Elaine (Elliott) Harmeson. Mike attended Arsenal Tech High School where he was a wrestler. He joined the IATSE Local 30 and was a member for over 40 years. Mike was a Master Stagehand and worked primarily with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Locally he also assisted at the RCA Dome, Clowes Hall, Market Square Arena and Conner Prairie. Over the course of his career he traveled the world assisting with productions. Following his recent retirement, he served as an Instructor, teaching others about the job he loved so much. Mike was also an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed fishing, birdwatching and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed nature photography. Mike is survived by his wife, Deanna (Gibson) Harmeson; children and grandchildren; sister, Claudia Harmeson; and his beloved feline companions, Tucky and Gracie. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Tom and Pat Harmeson. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 1-3pm at IATSE Union Local 30, 1407 E. Riverside Drive, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to support the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
