Michael E. McCleland, known to friends as Mac, age 71, of Noblesville, passed away at his home on August 28, 2021. He was born on December 28, 1949 to the late Farrell and Gladys McCleland.
Michael was a United States Army Veteran, awarded the Purple Heart during his time in service. He loved his country dearly and was proud to serve it. He was a simple man who enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, fishing, and anything to do with nature. He was an character at times, but his family knew he loved them. He was an extremely hard worker and was a jack of all trades. He was a family man through and through, an extremely proud papa. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Michael is survived by his wife of 40 years, Paula McCleland; children Jennifer McSurley (David), Craig Raas, and Amanda Askew (Aaron); grandchildren Nathan Lloyd, Madilyn McSurley, Miles McSurley, Micah McSurley, Ben O’Donnell, Mason Askew, Cayden Askew, and Lincoln Askew; siblings Karen Rison (Ben) and Bob McCleland (Connie); mother-in-law Margret Rolston; sister-in-law Diane Mensinger (Doug) and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents listed above, brothers Jim McCleland and Gary McCleland, niece Rayna Rison.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church on September 12, 2021 from 2-3pm central time with a funeral service beginning at 3pm central time.
Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery on Monday September 13, 2021 at 9am. Cremation was handled through Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.
