Michael Stephen Halbherr, age 68 (partner Annette Daniels), of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on May 4, 2023, at St. Vincent hospital. He was born on April 16, 1955, in Milwaukee, WI to George A. Halbherr and Jane A.Halbherr (nee Campbell).
Mike graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BS in Business Marketing in 1977. He worked in marketing, management and merchandising roles for various retail and manufacturing entities throughout his career.
Mike had a keen, natural sense of humor that endeared him to all that knew him. He was a joy to talk to and be around. Over the years, he enjoyed playing the drums, attending modified stock car races, connecting and reminiscing on Facebook with fellow fans of modified stock car racing, being a pet dad, and spending time with all his loved ones.
Above all else, Mike was a devoted and loving son, father, grandfather, partner, brother, uncle, son-in-law, and brother-in-law.
He is survived by his four children, Eric Halbherr (partner Heather Marley), Geoff Halbherr (wife Katy ), Stephanie Halbherr, Matt Halbherr (partner Meredith “Riley” Cook ), his three grandchildren, Ryan, Hayden, and Traceyn Halbherr, his partner and sweetheart of six years Annette Daniels, his sister Georgia Terry (Bill), his niece Lara Terry, his former wife Shelia Halbherr, his sister-in-law Emma Jane Allen, and his brother-in-law William K. Allen (Toui).
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and recently preceded in death by his childrens’ loving mammaw, his mother-in-law, Dora Allen (nee Frasure ), who thought of him like a son.
Mike’s life was enriched by his beloved pets, some who have passed on (Mo, Moose, Sunny, Charlie, Bradley, Little Bit ) and those owned by his son Geoff (Einstein, Penpen,Yoh ), his daughter Stephanie (Artemis, Apollo, Atlas) and his son Matt (Wally). Mike treasured his pet family’s cuddles, comfort and companionship, and they equally adored him.
Mike was cremated and his ashes will be interred in the grave plot where his parents are buried at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, KY, in a private ceremony.
