Michael Wayne Britt

Michael Wayne Britt, 62, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 1, 2022. He was born on July 8, 1959 in Angola, Indiana to the late James Britt and Martha (Smith) Strahle and his step-father, Richard Strahle. Michael worked as a carpenter for the majority of his life.

Mike was a free-spirited, down to earth person who danced to the beat of his own drum. He was the laughter at any occasion. His stories were so wild you never knew what to believe. He was a jack of all trades and loved being in the garage listening to a wide variety of music from Jimmy Buffet to Willie Nelson to Tupac. He loved fishing on the boat with his daughters in Marco Island and hitting golf balls into the ocean. Him and his brothers referred to themselves as, “Beach Bums.” Mike enjoyed gathering seashells with his family while on vacation. He never turned down wearing a Hawaiian shirt, and you could never get him to put on any damn shoes. He loved building and riding mini bikes with his grandsons Jordan and Kayden, and throwing torpedoes into the pool to his “favorite grandchild” Bella. In his spare time, he liked to build and paint model cars. Mike was a man who loved wholeheartedly and would give the shirt off his back to anyone. Only he, could pull off passing away on April Fool’s Day.

He is preceded in death by his parents, mentioned above; along with a niece, Jamie Britt.

Michael is survived by his companion of 34 years, Debbie Greer; daughters, Chelsea Britt (Michael Ferguson) and Christina Britt; grandchildren, Jordan Hopkins, Isabella Ferguson and Kayden Ferguson; siblings, Jim Britt, Kenny Britt, Anthony Britt, Charlie Carpenter and Bobby Kinn; nieces and nephews, Jake Maus, Cole Britt, Nick Britt, Anthony Britt, Riley Carpenter, Samantha and Elijah Williams; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
