Miriam J. Ames, age 74, of Indianapolis, IN died on Wednesday evening surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 24, 1941 in Nashville, TN to the late Lenzy and Alice Breedlove.
She was a member of the Hancock County Church of Christ and her passion was taking care of her family.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donald P. Ames of Indianapolis; son, Mark (Evelyn) Ames of Schaumburg, IL; daughter, Cindy (Royce) DeBerry of Indianapolis; brother, Joe (Jackie) Travis of Plano, IL and grandchildren, Jordan (Amy) Ames, Steven Soloman, Seth Hedrick, Kendall (Thomas) Arnold, Madison Palmer, Alicia (Curtis) Garrison, Angela (Joe) Kmitta, Amanda (Brad) Baker, Michael (Lindsey) DeBerry, Melissa DeBerry, Vanessa DeBerry, Kassandra DeBerry, Savanna DeBerry, Brianna DeBerry and Aurora DeBerry; 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joel Ames and sister Jacque (Breedlove) Borden.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 17 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Lawrence, 5215 N. Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial donation in Mrs. Ames memory can be made to Riley Hospital for Children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
