Mona Rae Phillips

Mona Rae Phillips, age 64, of Anderson, passed away on July 6, 2022, from an extended illness. She was born on February 23, 1958.

Mona was a graduate of Madison Heights High School, Class of 1976. After graduation she obtained her cosmetology license and worked at JCPenney’s Hair Salon for many years. Mona was a soft spoken, kind-hearted woman with a heart of gold. She was respectful to everyone she met, had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved those around her deeply. She was a wonderful grandma, always attending any sporting event they played. Rod Stewart was her absolute favorite musician. She was an avid Nascar fan, loved animals, and enjoyed tending for plants and flowers. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mona is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Donnie Phillips; children Rick Brown (Jill) and Koty McDole (Jimmy); grandchildren Makayla McDole, Jamison McDole, Faith Brown, and Martina Brown; brother Larry Lambert (Sherry); nieces Jamie, Melissa, Michelle, and Daylon; and many friends that were more like family.

Mona is preceded in death by her mother Evelyn Lawrence, and sisters Twila Simmons and Mary Payne.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Southern Care Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.

Cremation was chosen through Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
