Nellie Roselin James, age 92, of Anderson, passed away on November 6, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson. She was born on September 2, 1928 to the late Cleo and Ruth (Shrout) Davis.
Nellie was a lifelong resident of Anderson and was employed at General Motors, retiring after 30 years. She loved to bake, bowl in her “younger” years, bet on the ponies and play the slot machines at Hoosier Park.
Nellie was the rock of the family. She was the most selfless and loving person that lived for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her loved ones would tell you that she was perfect and always made sure that they had everything they ever needed. She was their comfort, their safe spot, and their place to go to when they needed love. Nellie also loved her many nieces and made it a point to call them frequently. Nellie was recently baptized by her nephew, which was a proud moment for her. She will be deeply missed by so many and family gatherings will never be the same but we will ALL be better people because of her.
Nellie is survived by her daughter Linda Ellis (Tim); grandchildren Staci Alfrey (Chuck), Haley Ukiri (Joe), Jacob Ellis (Lindsay), Jenny Hiday (Chris); step-grandchildren Brigette Ealy (Shannon) and Tim Ellis Jr. (Melanie); great-grandchildren Quinn and Zane Ukiri, Liam and Emersyn Ellis, Isaiah and Heather Reason, and Tim Ellis III and Maddison Ellis; daughter-in-law Julie James; and several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Megan Julian for all her wonderful care for Nellie.
She is preceded in death by her parents listed above; husband Clyde James; son William James; and 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
A visitation will be held on November 11, 2020 from 10-12pm with a funeral service beginning at 12pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Fred Stevens will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Protection League in memory of Nellie.
