Ollise Lynette Hayes

June 14, 1963 — April 2, 2025

Ollise Lynette “Lyn” Hayes, age 61, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on June 14, 1963, in the same city she called home throughout her life, Lyn touched countless lives through her dedication to family, faith, and service.

A proud graduate of Broad Ripple High School’s Class of 1981, Lyn began her journey with a strong foundation in education. She attended IPS Schools #11 and #110 before earning certifications as a phlebotomist and surgical technician. Her professional path reflected both compassion and leadership. She began her healthcare career at Methodist Hospital and later served at New Hope Rehabilitation Center and Ortho Indy, where she rose to the role of manager. Her commitment to excellence culminated in her position as Director of Operations at ATI Physical Therapy—a role she held with distinction until illness intervened.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Lyn was a woman of deep faith and tireless community involvement. She founded the ministry Women Uplifting Women, creating a space for spiritual growth and mutual support among women. Her church life was rich and varied; she worshipped at Mount Paran Baptist Church, Eastern Star Church, Barnes United Methodist Church, Body of Christ, and New Life Worship. Within these communities, she served faithfully in hospitality ministries, finance committees, women’s Bible studies, and outreach programs.

Lyn’s spiritual leadership extended to the Indianapolis Great Banquet of Indiana where she served as Lay Director and held several other roles over the years. Her love for performance also found expression through participation in church plays—another testament to her vibrant spirit.

In high school, Lyn was active in ROTC and color guard—early signs of her discipline and enthusiasm for teamwork. As an adult, she brought joy to others by hosting matinees at clubs and private gatherings. Music and dancing were lifelong passions that reflected her zest for life.

Lyn is lovingly remembered by her mother Barbara Ann (Humphrey) Parrish; her daughter Taylor Smith; son-in-law Abraham (Abe) Smith; sister Charla Hayes; and grandchildren AJ, Karter, and Allise. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

She now joins in rest those who preceded her: her father Charles Hayes; stepfather Allen Parrish; grandmothers Pearlene Humphrey and Betty Hayes; grandfathers Ezekiel Humphrey and Roosevelt Hayes; aunts Regina Renae Martin and Rosey Johnson; uncles Ezekiel Humphrey Jr., Ronald Humphrey, and Allen Humphrey.

Lyn’s legacy is one of love—for family, for faith, for community—and unwavering service to others. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
