Pamela was a creative soul. She had an inherent ability to make everyday events feel like Christmas Day. Whether it was sewing, painting, crafts, you name it: she was an artist. She passed this gift on to both of her beautiful daughters.
Pam was a talented craft painter. She brought joyful creations to life, painting wood-carved characters from Santa Clauses and Angels to Ducks and Cows. Folks who visited the Metamora Holiday Festivals and many street fairs throughout Indiana enjoyed her hand crafted work in their homes. Her artistry persisted even after the onset of blindness, carpal tunnel, and amputation resultant from severe diabetes. Pamela continued to lead craft events at a local nursing home in her final days.
Pamela loved to sew, and worked for Joann Fabrics while attending high school. Each night she came home with a piece of material, often sewing a new outfit for school the very next day. She designed and stitched her own wedding gown along with those of her bridesmaids. Later, she created costumes for theater performances that her daughters Angela and Jennifer participated in. Pam made sure every child onstage had a costume they could be proud of, and never hesitated to provide students with a ride home if needed. She loved to assist her daughters and nephews with school projects and over-the-top Halloween costumes.
Pam’s true love in life was Ralph. She affectionately called him “Tiny,” and later “Pappy” when they became proud grandparents to Andy. Everybody loved Ralph, a quiet good hearted man. Pam loved playing practical jokes on Ralph. She would surprise him with funny love notes on the mirror and elaborate scavenger hunts. Peace may be found in the joy of Pam’s spiritual reunion with her soul mate.
Pamela was employed for many years at the Indiana Pacers Corporation in the Human Resources Department. She took great pride in the team and the organization’s outstanding work in the community.
Pam was fun to be around and had the ability to make you feel special. She loved family, and delighted in providing big family meals just to see everyone gathered around the table. Pam found great self-worth in being a “MOM” to everyone. Yet, Pam spent so much time caring for others, she neglected her own well-being and health. She had numerous health issues that plagued her, particularly after the loss of her husband. She became imprisoned by her body with the loss of sight and limbs, devastating to such an independent spirit. Her family rallied around to make sure all her needs were attended to and at last there is no more pain or suffering. She is free. She is free.
