Patricia Ann Runkle was born on October 8, 1933 to John & Evelyn (Wickham) Black in Caney, Kansas. She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1951 and attended Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas for 2 years.
Pat was married to Ed Beck from 1956-1979. They had two daughters, Catherine and Diane. Pat was later married to Roger Runkle from 1980-1989.
Pat worked as a secretary & switchboard operator at several different locations, including the American Baptist Assembly in Green Lake, WI; Ottawa University and City Hall (both in Ottawa); Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant in Burlington, KS; and the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. Pat retired to the Branson, MO area where she volunteered at a hospital, a clinic and a Christian radio station.
Pat was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ottawa, KS for many years, later transferring her membership to North Baptist in Ottawa.
Pat passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Prairie Lakes Health Campus in Noblesville, IN where she had moved after living with her daughter in Indianapolis for 2 1/2 years. She is survived by her daughters, Catherine (Hidemasa) Ogi of Hamamatsu, Japan and Diane (John) Dennert of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren Paul (Mirei) Ogi of Japan; John Dennert II of Indianapolis, IN; Sarah (Marquis) Gray of Indianapolis, IN; Peter Dennert of Grand Forks, ND; Rachel (Jeremy) Grosch of Chapman, NE; Marie Ogi of Japan; and Hannah (Noah) Box of Carmel, IN; and great-grandchildren Jedidiah & Simon Gray of Indianapolis, IN; and Aika Ogi of Japan.
Services will be held at the Prairie Lakes Health Campus in Noblesville, IN on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 2:00. For any who desire to make a donation in memory of Pat, please make those to Samaritan’s Purse.
