Penny Joan Davis, 69, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 13, 2020. She was born on June 16, 1951 in Amsterdam, NY to the late Claude and Mary (Whitaker) Campbell. Penny graduated from Wilbur H Lynch High School in 1969. She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Davis, on November 22, 1969, while he was in the military. She soon after joined him in Germany, where he was stationed. They both raised their children together, moving from base to base, while Gary served his country for 20+ years.
After Gary’s retirement from the military, Penny decided to join the workforce. She started at Kohls and was an assistant manager at LS Ayers. She was also a store manager at one time for Hooks Drugs, which became CVS. Her last job before retirement was as a store manager for BD&A, a contract company for Eli Lilly, for 10 years.
One of Penny’s favorite things to do was to go twice a year to Florida to stay at her home away from home at Grayton Beach. A lot of times the entire family would come along as well. There were many great memories made during these times.
Penny also loved to create art paintings, spend time with and take care of family, work in the garden, sit out in the sun, read books and do anything involving her dogs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, mentioned above; along with her sister, Marcella Rush and brother, Jerry Campbell. Penny is survived by her husband of 52+ years, Gary E. Davis; son, Greg Davis (Megan); daughter, Susan T. Edwards (Chris); grandchildren, Keaton Davis, Jalen Lloyd, and MaKayla Parsley; and brother, Claude Campbell; many nieces, nephews and the Jarnagin family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Lawrence. Due to the Pandemic, attendance will be by family invitation only. Penny’s final resting place will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Fishers, IN.
