Peter A. Mumford

Mr. Peter Andrew Mumford was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 18, 1946, to the late Monte and Minerva Mumford and the youngest of four from this union.

Peter accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and rededicated his life to Christ at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN.

He attended the Indianapolis Public School system.

Peter, known as Pete, was employed with Indianapolis Chrysler Foundry in 1970 and after Twenty-five years, retired in 1996.

Pete was well known for his love of Cadillac’s, fashion, and taste for cigars. In his leisure, Peter enjoyed playing checkers, boxing, and an avid pool player in which he loved to teach others the game of pool.

Peter Andrew Mumford departed this life on Monday, May 3, 2021 at the age of seventy-four years, ten months and fourteen days.

Peter was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Rochelle Hughes, Indianapolis, IN, Regina (Robert) Medaris, Zionsville, IN, and Shawn Stewart (Richards) of Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren, Angelea (Antoine) Collins, Oviedo, FL, Anthony McClung Jr., Rashad Medaris, Monet & Mark Hughes Jr., and Gabrielle Stewart, Indianapolis, IN; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Aden Collins of Oviedo, FL; and a host of nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Daddy was like a fly on the wall, never spoke more than a few words. He was an excellent listener. Whenever called, he would always answer, “Yeah.” Depending on the topic, he would always end the conversation with what do you want to do about it baby, what time you want to go or well that’s that. Then he ends the call with “love you girl, EAZZY”

Daddy, you’ve lived life to the fullest, not it’s time for you to take your rest, EAZZY!

Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm on Friday, May 14, 2021, with a Homegoing Celebration starting at 12pm at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue.
