Phyllis E. Downey

Phyllis E. Downey passed away, peacefully, on April 19, 2018 while under the dedicated care of the Community Hospital Medical and Hospice Teams.

Phyllis was born on March 6, 1929 in Anderson, IN to George F. and Edith Wilson Shannon. She graduated from Anderson High School. She was a dedicated and valued employee of the Kroger Company for 44 years, where she retired.

Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Norman and James Shannon; and sister, Maxine Shannon Armbrust. She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Shannon of Carmel, IN.

Phyllis is also survived by her sons, Michael (Perrie) Downey of Indianapolis, IN and James (Noretta) Downey of Aurora, CO; as well as 4 grandchildren, Leah, Blake, Kristina, and Jami; and 5 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

As was Phyllis’ wish, there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory of her love of animals to the Humane Society of Indianapolis or your local Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services - Lawrence.
