Phyllis Irene Johnson

Phyllis Irene Johnson (Owens), 93, passed away on May 10, 2023, in Carmel, Indiana. Phyllis was born on August 21, 1929, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduated from Arsenal Tech High School. She was a hardworking and tenacious woman who worked as an auditor until she was 82 years old and drove until she was 92. Phyllis was known for her fierce independence and determination.

Phyllis loved staying in touch with her friends and family and was awarded the Rose Award many times for her excellent service as a Columbia Club employee. She is survived by her son, Gary Johnson, and her daughters, Linda Ruskowski and Judi Coffey, as well as her grandchildren, Nick Ruskowski, Christy Johnson, Lori Miller, Ben Johnson, Samantha Vidal, Charlie Coffey, and great-grandchildren, Max Ruskowski, Mia Miller, Annie Vidal, Emmy Miller, Arie Vidal, Dillan Johnson, and Logan Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Lawrence United Methodist Church, 5200 N. Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a service at 12:00 pm.   Phyllis’ final resting place is at Mendon Cemetery, Pendleton, IN.
