Phyllis J Hofer, 76, passed peacefully at home on Monday, April 23, 2018 surrounded by her family and friends.
Phyllis was born on May 20, 1941 in Indianapolis, IN to Gerald B. and Lula E. Brown. She met her husband, the late John C. Hofer in 1958 and the two were happily married for 47 years. She followed her husband while he served in the U.S. Navy and moved back home to Indianapolis to raise her family. Phyllis worked several small jobs and even traveled with her husband while he worked as an over the road truck driver. After traveling with her husband, she worked for the State of Indiana until she retired in 2006.
Phyllis will be remembered for her fun loving spirit and out-going personality and her love of friendship and shopping. She enjoyed stopping by a friend’s house and talking for hours or taking the afternoon to search for the perfect addition to her closest. When at home, she found pleasure in simply things.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dawn Stratman and Tina Hatcher; Six grandchildren, Shoncie Bollinger (Jess Bollinger), Amber Martin, Tiffany Phillips, Scott Barker, Darlene Griffin, and Zacharie Beard (Brittany Beard); and 11 great-grandchildren. She is proceed in death by her husband, John C. Hofer, parents Gerald and Lula Brown, daughter Beth Hofer, and her grandson John Willmes.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 3pm until 7p at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Service – Indianapolis, located at 1604 W. Morris Street in Indianapolis, IN. Funeral services will be held at same location of Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 10am with burial to follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown, IN
The family would like to extend the sincerest of gratitude to Amy and Carl. Because of them and their care, Phyllis was able to fulfill her last wish of being at home. We will forever be grateful for all they have done.
