Phyllis Joy Brinkers

89, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 12, 2018. She was born on May 16, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Guy and Anne Bowman. Phyllis worked for 25+ years at IPS as a teacher for children with special needs. She then moved to Howe High and taught children life skills and how to live with a positive outlook, retiring in 2000 at the age of 72. Phyllis was a devoted mother and teacher, and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents mentioned above; children, Jonell Zellner, David Bush, and Barbara Bush; and siblings, Guy Bowman, Robert Bowman, and Keith Bowman. Phyllis is survived by her children, Shannon Brinkers, Greg Brinkers, and Elizabeth (Richard) Rorhbacher; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2pm on Friday, Feb 16th at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with visitation starting at 12pm until the time of service. Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
