Rayburn “Rebel” Thompson, age 58, of Anderson, passed away on April 25, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson. He was born on July 13, 1961 to Melvin W. Thompson and Golda M. Thompson.
Rebel had two things he loved to do most and that was to go fishing and watch wrestling. He was a great grandpa and loved spending time with his grandkids. His grandkids called him papaw Ray. He was an ornery guy who would do anything for anyone. He would give a stranger the shirt off his back. He was a wonderful dad, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rebel is survived by his children Cassandra Coon (Charles) and Nikkia Jackson (Charles); grandchildren Hayley Michaels, Ian Michaels, Morgan Thompson, Koi Adams, Gavin Jackson, Donovan Jackson, and Ethan Galbreath; siblings Carolyn Morgan, Karen Thompson, Diane Ashby (Mike), and Christa Clark (Marshall); father Melvin Thompson; special cousin JR Short; special friend Tina Sells; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
He is preceded in death by his mother listed above; nephew Brad Gunn; and aunt Lena Lindsey.
Due to the COVID-19, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
