Raymond A. Walton, Jr., 79, of Indianapolis passed on Monday, February 1, 2016. He was born on July 7, 1936 in Beech Grove, IN to the late Raymond A. Walton, Sr. and Elizabeth (Britt) Bradley.
Ray served his country as a Marine as well as his local community as a police officer with IPD for 32 years. He was a proud member of the Masons having been a member for over 43 years. He had a great love of music and enjoyed worshiping at his church home of Lawrence United Methodist Church. He was an active member of the Oakland Masonic Lodge #140, Oakland OES #159 and Acton OES #173.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia “Jenny” Walton; sons, Raymond A. (Beth) Walton III and Michael L. (Marcia) Walton; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jacqueline L. Medaris.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Lawrence, 5215 N. Shadeland Ave. There will be an Order of Eastern Star service at 7:00 p.m. and a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Ray can be made to the American Lung Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
