Ricarda Torres Reyes

Ricarda “Richard” Torres, 74, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 9th, 2023, at her home in Indianapolis with her family by her side.

She was born on October 21st, 1948, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico to Vicenta Reyes Hernandez and Juan Bautista Torres Villalongo. Sister to six siblings; lovely mother to her three daughters — Ivette Maritza, Iris Yolanda and Johanna.

Ricarda graduated from Republica Colombia Superior (High School). She worked at General Electric for many years where she later retired due to health issues and to enjoy her grandchildren.

In 1994, she moved to Minnesota to live with her youngest daughter Johanna and her family; husband-Abner; grandkids — Dalys and Caleb. After thirteen years, they relocated to Indianapolis in 2007. Throughout the years, Ricarda was joined by the rest of her daughters and grandchildren to be by her side.

Ricarda was an active helper in her community of Monte Hatillo. She was known for organizing, numerous events, her tasteful foods she would cater and her ability to help, love and care for those in need. Ricarda was and is loved by everyone she crossed paths with, creating lovely memories and building long-lasting relationships.

Ricarda was a breast cancer survivor. She was a strong, beautiful and kind soul. She was courageous, loving, caring, giving, funny, confident, had an infectious laughter and overall, an amazing human being.

There aren’t enough words to describe Ricarda’s love for her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Her world revolved entirely around them. She had so much love radiating from her that she became everyone’s Abuela.

Preceding her in death was her mother, Vicenta; siblings — Lidia, William, Ovideo, Armando, Juan Bautista Jr.

Ricarda is survived by her father Juan Bautista Torres Villalongo; her three daughters — Ivette Baez Torres, Iris (Olman Guevara) and Johanna (Abner Rodriguez). One sibling — Roberto Villalongo. Eight grandchildren — Zuleyka Rivera Baez (Craig Mason), Carlos Baez, Roberto (Anna Baez), Abner (Alexandria Rodriguez), Lethzee (Priscila Calderon), Eduardo Rivera Baez, Jan (Melody Quijano), Abneris Rodriguez (Christian Mason). Twelve great-grandchildren — Dominic Baez, Alex Baez, Janelis Mason, Christian Mason Jr., Craig Mason III, Amar Rodriguez, Maya Baez, Linda Mason, Isaiah Quijano, Aziya Rodriguez, Luca Quijano, Caden Mason.

She may be gone, but her light will forever shine bright.
