RICHARD “RICK” BOGAN

Richard Charles Bogan, known to family and friends as “Rick”, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the age of 90. Born October 16, 1928 in Veedersburg, IN to Perry & Beatrice (Goche) Bogan.

Rick married Betty Jean Matthews in 1949 and were married for over 57 years until her passing in 2007. Rick had a passion for the “the arts”, painting with oils and pastels, gardening, genealogy and the study of American History were among his favorites.

Rick’s artistic talents led him to hold various advertising positions with: The Indianapolis Times, Hook’s Drugs, The American Lung Association, his own Bogan Graphics Offset Printing and Advertising and finally retiring in 1989 from Indianapolis Life Insurance Company as Director of Sales, Promotion and Advertising.

Some of his many business and social affiliations included: Toastmasters, Life Communicators, Indiana Public, Indiana Allied Health Associations, The Optimist Club, The Olympia Club and Southside Garden Club.

Rick is survived by his daughters, Linda (Steven) Lazinsky and Deborah (Herb) Green; brother Ronald (Marilyn) Cron; Grandchildren; Kim Kelsay, Eric (Tracy) Duncan, Kelli Ball and Joseph Green; 9 Great Grandchildren; 6 Great-Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother Robert (JoAnn) Bogan and his wife Betty.

A celebration of his life will be held at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N Shadeland Ave on January 29, 2019 from 3:00-5:00 pm with celebration of life service at 4:00 pm.   In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either Rosie’s Southside Animal Shelter at ssai.org or The Parkinson’s Foundation at Parkinson.org
