Richard Lee "Shorty" Colvin, 84, a beloved member of the Anderson community, passed away on June 26,2024, in his hometown. Shorty led a remarkable life that touched the hearts of many.

Born October 6, 1939, in Anderson, IN, Dick was a proud graduate of Anderson High School's class of1957. His passion for hard work and dedication shone through in his career - he devoted 30 years to Maier's Super Market and another 25 years to Payless Super Market. Known for his strong work ethic and having a smile on his face, he left a lasting impact on his colleagues and customers alike.

Beyond his professional life, Dick found joy in the simple things. He cherished moments spent traveling to the beach with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever. His love for cars was evident in his involvement with the Model A Restorers Club and the Central Indiana Old Car Club. Whether it was restoring classic cars, attending swap meets, or watching NASCAR races, Dick's passion for automobiles was infectious.

Described as stubborn yet always approachable, Dick never met a stranger. His warm demeanor and willingness to lend a helping hand endeared him to all who crossed his path. He had a keen eye for collecting all things vintage and antique, turning each item into a story waiting to be shared.

Dick will be deeply missed by his surviving family members and friends who admired and adored him. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the legacy of kindness, hard work, and positivity that he leaves behind. In honoring Shorty's memory, let us remember to approach each day with a smile just like he did.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Jo Ann Colvin; children Rick Colvin, Lori Knickerbocker, and Kari Gibson (Brian); 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces and nephews; and sister Judy Colvin.
