Rickey Lee Brough, a beloved husband, dad, and papaw, passed away on September 17, 2024, in his hometown of Anderson, Indiana. Born in Anderson, Rick’s life was a testament to hard work, quiet strength, and deep love for his family and passions.
Rick dedicated his professional life to working as a diesel mechanic and an autobody mechanic for semis, gaining a well-deserved reputation for his expertise in all things automotive. His affinity for cars extended beyond the workplace as he transformed that passion into a lifelong hobby, attending car shows where he proudly collected trophies for his accomplishments, particularly for his beloved Old 41 Willy’s Pick-Up Truck, which he had painstakingly fixed up from the ground up.
Known for his humble and loving personality, Rick embodied the qualities of a true caretaker. Following the death of his father, he stepped into the pivotal role of the man of the house, becoming a steadfast mentor and role model for his brothers. With love and dedication, he ensured that they were always cared for and imparted important lessons about integrity and compassion.
Rick’s interests were as diverse as they were passionate. Among his many hobbies, he found joy in trains, dedicating space in his home to elaborate model displays that showcased his collection. Building and displaying different train sets and tracks brought him immense satisfaction, reflecting his meticulous nature and creativity.
Rick is survived by his wonderful wife of 46 years, Laurie Brough; daughters Heather Haynes (Neal) and Crystal Winchester; grandchildren Haleigh Bowen (Abe), Vincent Winchester, Scarlett Brashears, Damien Brashears, and Trinity Winchester; great-grandchildren Lennon and Jude; siblings Linda Wolverton (Ron), Shirley Brough, Julie Stults (Ron), Andy Brough (Nancy), Kim Jackson (Jerry), and Jeff Brough; best friend Chris Peterson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
