Robert L. Parsons, 72, passed away at Community Hospital, May 7 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Anderson on October 21, 1944to Karl and Faith Parsons.
Bob graduated Fairmount High School in 1962. He served in the National Guard, then worked at Delco Remy until he retired in 2002 as a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker for over 40 years.
Bob attended many auctions to buy antiques, enjoyed boating, and he also liked working on his house and barns.
His greatest passion was collecting antique cars,street rods, and Corvettes. His favorite car was his ’46 Cadillac. He was a member of Modern Antiques Club for over 30 years and attended the swap meet in Hershey, PA many times. Bob loved going to swap meets and car shows not just for the cars, but to meet people and be around his friends. He especially enjoyed the NSRA Street Rod Nationals and James Dean Festival in Fairmount, Indiana.
Surviving Bob is his beloved wife, Bonnie; brothers,Errol Parsons and Gary (Carol) Parsons; nephews, Brent (Tina) Parsons and Eric(Dawn) Parsons; niece, Anna Bowman; several great-nephews and cousins; special cousin/brother, Aaron Parsons; and many special friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents;brother-in-law, Paul Bowman; and sister-in-law, Nancy (wife of Errol).
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bob’smemory to the Animal Protection League or Humane Society.
A celebration of life will be held at 6pm on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 504 W. Ninth Street, Anderson, IN, with visitation from 4pm to 6pm. Bob would want you to dress casually, and if you want, to please wear your car shirts.
