Rodney J. Smith

Rodney J. Smith, 60, passed away at home from an extended illness on October 16, 2017. He was born in Anderson on January 12, 1957 to John S. and Velma (Becky) Smith.

Rodney worked at General Motors for thirty years as a Die Setter before retiring. He was an avid reader. His love for cars included doing auto body work, old classic cars, and watching Indy car and NASCAR races. He also liked boating and football. But most of all, he loved being with his family and his many, many friends.
Preceding Rodney in death are his parents, and stepfather, Joe L. Gaddis.
Left to treasure Rodney’s memory is his wife of thirty years, Kelly K. Smith; daughter, Crystal (Robert) Karst; son, J. Tyler Smith; grandchildren, Karlie R. Smith, Cara F. Karst, Owen D. Karst, and an unborn grandchild due in April; nephew, Bryan Crose; and brothers-in-law, Billy Crose and Scott (Marcia) Crose.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Rodney may be made to the American Cancer Society.

A Memorial Service will be at 1pm on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Ovid Community Church, 793 600 South, Anderson, IN 46013, with visitation 30 minutes prior to service time.
