I have 8 grandchildren: Kyle (Jacque) Thompson, Erica (Dusty) Gilpin, Bryan Dennis, Rachel (Daniel Hoover) Dennis, Shelby (Ryan) LaFlash, Hannah (fiancee, Michael Farmer) Dennis, Nathan Guffey and Evan Guffey. I have 10 great-grandchildren: Hunter, Stella, Nolan, Olivia, Dylan, Rowynn, Nash, Cameron, Lucas, and London.” – written by Russell himself
His family was the cornerstone of his life. He was proudly 89 and 7 months old (as he often reminded us). He enjoyed talking about his years at GM and his years of service during the Korean conflict as an armourer. After high school, he began working at GM in 1951; he retired from Plant 1 Multigraph Department in 1993. He made many friends and acquaintances during his 42 years of employment.
His hobbies, over the years, included golfing with his buddies, bowling, and Cincinnati Reds games, but his priority was always his family along with mowing and caring for his lawn. In the summer, you could always find him on his riding lawnmower mowing his or another family member’s yard. He was the ultimate DIYer and would always “do it himself” before paying someone to do those projects.
His passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of everyone who knew him. He will be sadly missed by all, as he was loved by all.
Other surviving family members are his sister Janet Leach, brother Tom (Patricia) Dennis, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Maurice and Daris (Dudgeon) Crull. He also leaves behind two special fur friends, Max and Buddy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, his brother Max, and his son Paul.
