Sadie Waskom, 96, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, March 30, 2022, in Indianapolis, IN. She was born Sadie Griffith on March 15, 1926, in Garrett, KY (Floyd County) to parents Sallie and Harrison Griffith. She moved from Kentucky to Indianapolis in 1958 and worked for Mechanics Laundry, Laboratory Supply Company and ended her career as a waitress, cook and homemaker. Sadie met and married Ervin Waskom on June 17, 1972.
Sadie was a member of the American Legion Post 64 and the Speedway Moose Lodge. She loved music, dancing, fashion, and animals. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, puzzles, holidays (especially Halloween), and spending time with family and friends. Her kindness, spunk, strength, and zest for life were undeniable. She was loved by everyone that met her.
She is survived by her 4 children, Billy R. Hunter, Joyce A. Hatfield, Jack D. (Helen) Hunter, Betty S. Benjamin and 18 grandchildren along with many great grandchildren and great/great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Waskom and daughter Bonnie L. Hill.
Public visitation will be hosted on April 6, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. followed by the service from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Indianapolis, 1604 W. Morris St., Indianapolis, IN 46221. Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery, 425 N. Holt Rd., Indianapolis, IN
