Samuel A. Thompson

December 22, 1990 — April 8, 2022

Indianapolis, IN

Samuel A. Thompson Jr., 31, passed away April 8, 2022.

He was born December 22, 1990 in Indianapolis, the son of the late Theresa (Wright) and Samuel Thompson Sr.

Sam was the only child born to Theresa and Samuel Thompson Sr.  Affectionately known as Sammy as a young boy, losing his father at 6 years old forced him to grow up fast.  Raised by a very strong single mother, Sam was brought up surrounded with the love and support of both his immediate and extended families, both near and far away.  Fortunately, in times of need, his family would always assist them and their contributions were always greatly appreciated.

Always the baby of the family, he got away with everything, told on everyone else and was rarely punished, which is certainly true of the baby in any family.  He was very fortunate to spend time in both Indiana and Kentucky with his family as a young boy.  He certainly embraced both the city and country lifestyles.  Raised a city kid, but a country boy in his heart, he loved being outdoors.  Rather being outside riding his bike, playing basketball or going fishing, he had fun doing it all.  Stubborn as could be, Sam could not wait to leave school and start working.  He began working at a young age, trying his hand at several different jobs.  He was able to do practically anything he put his mind to.  As a young adult, he became a father to his only child, his son Isaiah Thompson.

Sam worked both to support his son and his household.  He was blessed to have a good co-parenting relationship with his son’s mother.  Being young parents, they both had the support of their families to assist with anything they ever needed for Isaiah.  Of course having that strong Thompson DNA, Isaiah has visually and literally been a copy of his father.  Being a young dad gave Sam all the energy he needed to play with his son.  Whether wrestling on the ground, playing with cars or playing video games, they had a good time together.  Sam was always very proud to be Isaiah’s father.

Now, we are left with these uplifting and happy memories.  We also know that his son and remaining family all have the blessing of having gained another guardian angel in heaven.

Sam is survived by his only child, son, Isaiah Thompson; sisters, Brandy (James) Coffee and Lisa (Roy) Eldridge; nephews and nieces, Devin & Eli Coffee and Veronica (House) Howard & Nicole House; great-nephew, Ace Howard; aunts, Debbie Wright and Elizabeth (Thompson) Hayes; uncle, Chuck (Terri) Wright; several other immediate and extended family members and close friends.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Theresa (Wright) Thompson, father, Samuel Thompson Sr.; grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
