Sarah Corbin

September 18, 1940 — January 7, 2025

Indianapolis

SARAH DORSEY "OUR QUEEN" CORBIN was born on September 18.1940 from the union of the late Dorothy Ethel Dorsey (Mother) and the late Lemo Dorsey (Father) in the state of Greenville, Mississippi. She was one of 10 children (5 daughters and 5 sons)

She moved from Mississippi to Arkansas in October 1953 and in the year of 1960, she relocated to Indianapolis, IN at the age of 20. That is where she resided up to her death. She was later reunited with the late Murray Lee Corbin Sr., and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on the day of June 15, 1968, whom she remained married to for 32 years. Their union brought 7 children in addition to the 2 children that Sarah already had and that made the total of 9 children. Together they raised 5 daughters and 4 sons until the Lord called Murray home on April 2, 2000.

Sarah enjoyed being a mother and devoted wife and family meant everything to her. She would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. A lot of her family members would come to her, and she was always the one that provided you with the encouragement that you needed. She would always say, "Baby, it's going to be alright. Just trust in God." Sunshine always found a way to see the good in everyone that came across her path.

She had a passion for cooking and worked for many years at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Indianapolis as the Pastry Chef from the year of 1977-1980. There were many people that looked up to her and knew her for her good cooking. There was never a time that you were not in Sunshine's presence that she didn't ask you, "Baby, are you hungry?" She was known for her potato salad, sweet potato pie, and other pastries and foods. She was also very devoted and committed to her church family and loved to praise the Lord every chance that she got. Elder William Smith was her pastor for many years at Smith Temple Church of God In Christ.

She served on the Mother's Board for the church. She welcomed the Lord as her Christ and Savior when she joined Smith Temple Church of God in Christ in April 1975 and served the Lord until her death. She remained a member of Smith Temple until the year of 2021. She then joined Greater Light Church of God in Christ in November 2023 and served as a member there until her death. Pastor Anthony Aron was her pastor at Greater Light.

Sarah "Our Queen" Corbin departed this life on the day of Tuesday, January 7,2025 at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 19 days.
