Sonya Justine Edens

Sonya Justine Edens, 58, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 15, 2019. Sonya is better known as Sophie, by all of her friends and family. She was born on September 6, 1960 in Scottsville, KY to the late Robert and Zelda Carter-Doss. Sophie lived with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis all of her life, but that didn’t stop her. She met the love of her life, Ray Edens, while she was a teenager. They shared the same birthday, and got married right before they both turned 20. Sophie was a homemaker, who loved caring for her daughter, Cassi.

She is preceded in death by her parents, mentioned above. Sophie is survived by her husband of 39 years, Raymond “Ray” Edens Jr.; daughter, Cassi Adkins; daughter, Brittany Printz; grandson, Braydon Skaggs; siblings, James Doss, Dewayne Doss, Margie Meador, and Sheila Doss; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be at 2pm on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with visitation starting at 1pm, until the start of the service. Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
