On October 4th, 2021, Stephen C. Porter went home to be with the lord after a lengthy battle with cancer. Stephen was born on November 1st, 1952, to Charles Porter Junior and Helen Louise Goodpastor Porter. As a child he played many sports including basketball and football included going to and winning a state championship for seventh street school in Anderson. Steve learned to play the guitar playing in many bands and competitions well into his young adult years. Steve worked several occupations with his longest tenure being with Emge meat packing in Anderson. Steve’s passion in life was his personal relationship with Jesus Christ whom he started following in 1979 and never looked back. Steve used his musical talents to write and perform music that celebrated his love for Jesus for many years in churches and nursing homes all over Indiana. He published several songs that got airplay on the radio locally (He’s the one) as well as appearing at the bluebird café in Nashville to sing as well. Steve was a tireless evangelist graduating from Liberty Bible College with a degree in biblical sturdies. He would witness to any and everyone he could by sharing his personal testimony of freedom from addiction and evidence of a changed life to try and lead everyone he knew to saving faith in Jesus Christ. Steve was proceeded in death by his father, mother, and sister Cynthia Ann Porter-Freeman. Steve leaves behind his wife Tammy (Saylor) Porter, a daughter (Karena Porter), two sons Coy (wife Kendra) Porter and Claude (wife Sheena) Porter, Brother Mike Porter, Sisters Lisa Brown, Jeni Polly, and thirteen Grandchildren (Noa, Evan, Dylan, Kayla, Aiden, Logan, Mackenzie, Fox, August, Devon, Izabella, Hunter, & Felicity), Best friends John Walker, Dennis Mendenhall as well as several nieces and nephews. His sense of humor, love for God, and musical talent will be missed but the family takes great comfort knowing that we will all see him again one day.
