Stephen Cottingham

Stephen Cottingham, age 62, of Anderson, passed away on October 16, 2024 at Community Hospital Anderson after an extended illness. He was born on November 15, 1961 to William and Fern Cottingham. His nephews and all the kids who knew him called him "Uncle Beef."

From an early age, Stephen loved sports. Baseball was his favorite. He played for Babe Ruth. He was one of the best from Park Place. He also enjoyed basketball and had a love for IU and Boby Knight that lasted his whole life. He was an avid football fan and loved the Colts. Stephen also had a tremendous love for golf. He showed his nephews Steve, Jerry, and Jason how to play baseball and golf and also learned how to make clubs. 

Stephen would always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and not expect anything in return. He could also build anything you asked him to and had a true heart of gold. He took care of his mother, Fern Cottingham, for a number of years. His sacrifice for his family was unmatched. He adored his family. He loved his dogs like they were his own children. He had a Harley Davidson for some time and loved to ride. If Stephen was watching TV, he was watching wrestling. 

Stephen was a true inspiration. He was sober for a long time and was proof that you can accomplish whatever you set your mind to. He was proud to be a fighter till the end. He will never be forgotten, and his spirit is free now. Fly High! 

A visitation will be held on Friday November 1, 2024 from 12-2pm with a funeral service beginning at 2pm at Legacy Funeral Home.
