Stephen D Eldridge

Stephen Dalton Eldridge was born on October 13, 1951, at St. johns Hospital in Anderson to Dalton and Nadine (grant) Eldridge. He passed away at home on May 20, 2019 after a three-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. He married Connie (Byrne) Eldridge on September 5, 1981.

Steve graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1969 where he was on the football team. He also attended Anderson College and Ball State University.

Steve served in the United States Army from February 23, 1972 to February 23, 1975. He was currently employed at Meadowbrook Golf Course and was previously employed by Madison County at Job Source and the Community Justice Center. He was a slow pitch softball umpire in Anderson and Noblesville.

Steve is survived by his wife Connie Byrne Eldridge and two daughters Jennifer Sheets McClelland and her husband Shawn and Jessica Cross Buckner and her husband Shawn. He is also survived by three grandsons who were his pride and joy, Andre Edwards, Andrew Sheets, and Maddox Buckner and his great-granddaughter Gabrielle Edwards, who always made him smile. He is also survived by two sisters, Karlene (Howard) Carter and Lana (George) Ledbetter, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Emma Lou Byrne, his brothers-in-law Rodger Byrne and Mike Byrne, and his sisters-in-law Debbie Byrne Williams and Beckie Byrne Jones.

Our family cannot express our thanks and gratitude enough to Dr. Rimawi and his staff, the “angels” in the chemo lab, and our hospice nurse and case manager. Your care and thoughtfulness made this journey a little easier.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cancer Center at St. Vincent’s Hospital or to Riley Children’s Hospital.

A visitation will be held on May 25, 2019 from 9-12pm with a funeral service beginning at 12pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.
