Stephen D. Oliver

Stephen D. Oliver, born on February 9, 1951, in Shelbyville, Indiana to parents Floyd and Marjorie Jean Oliver. He passed away peacefully in Summitville, Indiana on January 5, 2025 at the age of 73. He was a 1972 graduate of Madison Heights High School in Anderson, Indiana. He took pride in his participation in Special Olympics where he showed off his basketball prowess. 

Having lived most of his life in Anderson where he cherished his independence, you may have seen him walking there at a pace that would be the envy of any hiker. He also loved to go bike riding, visit restaurants, relatives, and friends. 

Among his various hobbies and interests, he was an avid fan of wrestling, college basketball (IU), Judge Judy, and scary movies. He enjoyed working puzzles and playing cards. He liked model trains and caring for his "Boston" (fern). if you asked him what he wanted to eat, his answer would invariably be pizza. 

Stephen was the brother of Terry Slusser and wife Nancy, Brenda Walker and husband Jim, and Larry Oliver and wife Beverly; He was the uncle to a niece, Marcie, and nephews Terry Lee, Jeremy, Jason along with their families. 

Remembered for his ability to overcome diversity, "I can do it myself" attitude, and friendly nature, he was an inspiration to those around him. Stephen was quick with a smile as he cherished the attention of those who befriended him. His heart was filled with love for his family and friends. He will be missed by those who knew him, and he will live on in their memories. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any mental heath organization.

Visitation will be informal, and dress is casual. Family and friends are invited to share stories and memories. 

Services will be held at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services - Anderson on January 14, 2025 from 12 to 2pm.
