Steven Ned Bond

October 29, 1947 — March 13, 2018

Steven N. Bond, 70, of Anderson, IN, was surrounded by his loving family and was welcomed into Jesus’ eternal arms on March 13, 2018, after a long, valiant battle with cancer. Steve married the love of his life, Theresa (Leever) Bond, on August 4, 2000. Together, they blended a beautiful family of five children: Evin Bond, Alex Bond, Nathan (Megan)Young, Nick (Heather)Young, and Tylor (Brandi)Young. Sharing a very special father/daughter bond, Evin will always be her “daddy’s little girl.” Lovingly called “Pops” by the children made Steve very proud, but nothing compared to being named “Pappy” and “Papaw” by his two grandsons, Ryan Gilbert and Cameron Young. Steve’s entire family, including his siblings, Jeanne Stansbury, Elizabeth (Jim) Petro, and Michael (Nancy) Shank, and his nieces and nephews, Tommy, Chris, Danny, Steph, Jason, Lisa and Kristy, were very important to him.
Steve was born on Oct. 29, 1947, in Anderson, IN, to Helen and Harold Bond. He was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School and Indiana State University. When Steve returned to Anderson, he became the successful business owner of Bond and Associates, Inc., creating jobs and serving many local businesses. Steve was known as an incredibly hard worker and was often quoted as saying, “No one will ever outwork me.”
Steve’s early employment in the scrapyard business gained him a mentor and brother-like friend in Don (Joyce) Colbert, who is always a constant supporter. Art (Karlene) Schletty, another dear lifelong friend, and Steve shared over 38 years of attending the Indy 500 together.
Steve’s faith caused him to want to make a difference in our community, finding a fulfilling responsibility on the board of Alternatives, a domestic violence shelter. Steve and Theresa loved to travel and share adventures together, exploring many places and enjoying the sun. Steve loved sharing his hobbies of horses, racing, and golf with his family and friends.
While we rejoice for Steve, knowing that he is in Heaven, we are still sad for all of us who will tremendously miss this strong, caring, and funny man.

A private “Celebration of Life” gathering will be held soon. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that donations be given in honor of Steve to Alternatives, Inc., P.O. Box 1302, Anderson, IN 46015.
