Steven Troy York

Steven Troy York, known to his friends and family as Steve, was born on April 1, 1966, in Anderson, Indiana. He passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, in his beloved hometown of Anderson.

Steve led a life characterized by hard work and dedication, working as a concrete truck driver, a role that exemplified his strong work ethic. He also served as a reformatory guard, contributing to the safety and security of those around him. His professional journey was marked by resilience and determination, reflecting the values he held dear.

Beyond his professional life, Steve was a passionate gun enthusiast with a particular fondness for competitive shooting. His commitment to honing his skills in this area demonstrated his discipline and love for the sport. In addition to his interests in firearms, he enjoyed the excitement of RC cars and boats, finding joy in these hobbies that allowed him to express his creativity and engage in friendly competition.

Steve had a big heart, especially when it came to animals. His compassion for these animals spoke volumes about his character and his belief in second chances.

Survived by his faithful companion dog, Lou, mother and step-father Loretta and James Purkey, his brother Jeffery York and wife Marilyn, 2 aunts, Donna Boffing and husband Mike, Patty Grile and husband Kurt, one nephew, Jeffery Lee York. Also 4 first cousins, other cousins and friends.

Preceded in death, his father Harry Leon York, his grandparents Mary and Harrison York, and Barney and Sylvia Norrod.

Steve will be remembered for his kind disposition, strong spirit, and the positive impact he made on those around him. His legacy will continue through the memories of his family and friends, who will carry forward the light he brought into their lives.
