Theresa G. (Wright) Thompson

Theresa G. (Wright) Thompson, 57, passed away June 14, 2019.

She was born November 1, 1961 in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Dorothy (Smiley) and Aster Wright.

Theresa was born the third of four children, and the “middle” girl.  Losing her father at 10 years old forced her and her siblings to grow up fast.  Brought up with a strong work ethic, Theresa began working as soon as she could to support her mother and the household.  In her middle and late twenties, she expanded her own family, giving birth to her two children, Brandy and Samuel Jr.  Mostly raising her children as a single parent, she would exemplify the traits of a leader, mother bear, independent woman, best friend, biggest cheerleader and loving mother.  Fortunately, in times of need, her family would always assist her and her children.  Their contributions were always appreciated by her and her children.

Even while raising two children, she never lost her sense of self.  As anyone who knows her can attest, she enjoyed having fun as much as the next person.  Born a social butterfly, she enjoyed bringing her unique presence to all types of events.  She certainly did not shy away from being the life of the party, who always knew the latest gossip.  Through all the adventures in her younger life, nothing thrilled or excited her more than the next phase of her life, the ultimate Nana.

The birth of her three grandsons gave her life a whole new meaning. Fortunate enough to be blessed with three absolutely handsome studs, with big hearts, wonderful senses of humor, and powerful personalities; she loved each boy immensely.  She enjoyed many titles in her life, but none more than Nana.  

Now, those three boys, their parents, her immediate and extended families all have the blessing of having gained an amazing guardian angel in heaven.

Theresa is survived by her two children, daughter, Brandy (James) Coffee and son, Samuel (Tara) Thompson Jr.; three grandsons, Devin & Eli Coffee and Isaiah Thompson; sister, Debbie Wright; brother, Chuck (Terri) Wright; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Wright; sister, Tammy Wright and nephew, Christopher Sebastian.

All Services will be conducted Friday, June 21, 2019.  Services will begin with visitation starting at 11:00 am, until the time of service at 2:00 pm.  Cremation will follow.  Services have been entrusted to Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 1604 W. Morris St., Indianapolis, IN 46221.
