Thomas Anthony Jones, also known as Tony, was born on to Evan and Virginia (Thurman) Jones on December 2, 1953 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended St. Rita’s Catholic Church School in Indianapolis, where he received his first communion.
Thomas served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1974-1984, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. He retired from the Indiana State Department of Corrections after 25 years of service.
Thomas was preceded in death by both his parents, Evan and Virginia.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Stacey Tyler-Jones, whom he married on July 28, 2013; three children: Thomas Askari Jones, Brianna Tyler Jones, Jaileta Diane Jones; two sisters: Cynthia and Renee Jones; two brothers: Tyrone Jones and John Williams; twelve grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Thomas loved playing cards, spending time with family, barbecuing and most of all – fishing!
Friends may call from 1-2pm, Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services-Lawrence, located at 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46226.
A private celebration of life service will be held. In order to maintain social distancing requirements and limitations on the number of attendees allowed, space for the celebration of life service is limited to immediate family only. Funeral service will be live-streamed at 2pm, Saturday, August 15, 2020.
