Velma Fischer

Velma Jean Fischer, daughter of Chester and Helen (Woods) Watson was born on December 16, 1929 in Indianapolis, IN. She passed away December 7, 2019 at Bethany Village, Indianapolis, IN at the age of 89 years, 11 months, 21 days.

Velma married Duane G Fischer in 1949. They shared 42 years of marriage until his death in November 2007. They were blessed with six children: Duane Fischer, Margaret Means, Paul Fischer, Catherine Jones, Lisa Chappell, and Connie Goeden.

In later years, Velma worked outside the home at Laughner’s Cafeteria and MCL Cafeteria. She was also active in her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Duane Fischer and daughter Margaret Means as well as brothers Vernon and Delmar Watson, and sister Betsy Nicolosi.

Survivors include two sons, Duane Fischer and Paul Fischer, and three daughters, Lisa Chappell, Cathy Jones, and Connie Goeden. She was also survived by Margaret’s daughter, Julie Means, in addition to many other grand and great grandchildren.
