Obituary for Vincent O. Pearson
Beloved father and devoted husband, Vincent O. Pearson, 73, passed away on June 23, 2020. Born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on March 20, 1947, Vince grew up on the westside of Indianapolis and graduate from Ben Davis High School in 1966. Two years later, in 1968, he married the love of his life, Kathy. Over the course of the next 52 years, the couple were rarely apart. Vince was the father of two sons, Jeffrey and Frank, of whom he loved without exception and was extremely proud. He recognized that his boys were individuals, with individual personalities, and he helped to bring them up in a way that allowed them to become the men they wanted to be. He loved old cars, classic country music, telling tales, and enjoying the company of friends and family. He loved F-150 pick-up trucks. He also loved to work, or tinkering as he called it, after he retired. It did not matter the project, doing home repairs or turning wrenches under the hood, he said it just made him feel good and helped him stay busy. He also enjoyed helping folks. Since the pandemic started, he made a habit of looking in on several people in the retirement community he and Kathy live in to make sure they had groceries, were eating, and keeping their doctor’s appointments. A proud family man, Vince loved his extended family as well. He loved his brother and sisters and his in-laws. He also loved being “Uncle Vince” to his numerous nieces and nephews–many of whom had become his friends and confidants in adulthood. Vince also delighted in serving in a grandfather-like role to a few of his great nieces and nephews, as well as the sons of his good friends, Jack and Sarah Tonkin of Florida. He was a simple man but, then again, most great men are.
Vince was proceeded in death by his parents Alex and Estelle Pearson. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Pearson; eldest son Jeffrey and, his wife, Jennifer; and youngest son, Frank and his fiancé, Eve Graue. Sharing in their grief are siblings Mary Jane [and Dennis] Blake, Judy [and Kenny] Lucas, Vivian Lowery, Marie [and Bob] Hansen, and Alex Pearson, as well as several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
