Wayne L. Wright, age 93, of Anderson, passed away on February 9, 2019 at Providence Nursing Home. He was born on May 23, 1925 to the late Jesse and Ellie Wright.
Wayne was a graduate of Anderson High School. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He later re-enlisted and served in the Korean War. He was proud to serve his country as a 1st Boatswain’s Mate.
Wayne had a sense of humor like no other. You could always find him cracking jokes. After retiring from working in insurance, Wayne became a scout for the Cincinnati Reds and the business manager of the Hockett Baseball Team in Anderson. He was a proud member of the Shriners for many years. He and his wife Jo also loved to spend their time traveling as much as they could. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan; children Pamela Fisher (Gabe), Brad Wright (Annette), and Kimberly Nealon (Ryan); grandchildren Sarah (Nate), Kelly, Richard, and Garrett; and great-grandchild Kash.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Frances Wright and Casey Wright.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the caregivers at Providence Nursing Home, St. Vincent Anderson, and the Community Wound Center for their help in caring for Wayne. The respect and compassion always shown is greatly appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Madison County Shriners in memory of Wayne.
A visitation will take place on February 15, 2019 from 11-1pm with a funeral service following at 1pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson. Burial and Military Honors will take place at Anderson Memorial Park.
