William “Bill” E. Needler, age 83, of Anderson, IN, passed away on September 22, 2019 at St. Vincent Regional Hospital following a short illness.
Bill was born in Anderson, IN on July 4, 1936, the son of Gerald and Marie (Stanley) Needler. He attended Anderson High School and graduated in 1954. He was enjoyed by the Guide division of General Motors out of high school and graduated from General Motors Institute in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science, mechanical engineering. He retired in 1992 as the superintendent of maintenance after 37 years of service. While working at GM, he also spent 11 years teaching hydraulics and fluid power at Anderson High School Vocational School. After retirement he became a consultant for the Chrysler Corporation and stayed in that role for many years.
He is survived by a sister Rose Ann Brown of Anderson; 6 children Bobbi Chantel (Husband Ronnie) Peavler of Daleville, Indiana; Darice (husband Eugene) Hardesty of Anderson; Marshall E. Needler of Woodbridge, VA; Darrell (Wife Bonnie) Needler of Troy, OH; Jenae Miller of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; Jon L. (wife Paige) Needler of Anderson, IN; grandchildren Joshua Higgins, Jourdan Higgins, Madison Peavler, Cole Peavler, Evan Hardesty, Daren Hardesty, Douglas Needler, Sarah Needler, Brittany Meyers, Katie Needler, Nicole Summers, Michelle Blair, Angela Havens, Ashlea Owings, Jonathan Needler, Jared Needler, a nephew Tim Brown and a niece Tammy Brown; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Cathy Needler.
Services will be held at 2pm on Friday September 27, 2019 at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services – Anderson with Rev. Gary McCaslin officiating. A visitation will be held from 12-2pm prior to the funeral service.
