Yong Suk Cooper

Yong Suk “Susie” (Kim) Cooper, age 81, of Anderson, gently passed away surrounded by her family on December 11, 2019. She was born in Seoul, South Korea on October 7, 1938 and moved to the United States in 1967.

Yong Suk was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was the center of her universe and she loved them with a fierce passion. She was an exceptional cook, particularly known for her fried rice and egg rolls. Yong Suk had a special presence about her and was very charming, captivating, generous to a fault, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She had a special bond with her little dog Niko. She worked for Fisher Guide in Anderson from 1977-1995. While proud to have been of Korean heritage, she was especially proud to have become an American citizen in 1971. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Yong Suk is survived by her husband of 53 years, Samuel Cooper; children Marie Terrell and Andy Cooper; grandchildren Alexa Terrell (Ben Powell) and Brenna Terrell; siblings Yoon Suk Kim, Chang Suk Bizjak (Greg), Shin Suk An, Ki Young Kim, and Doo Young Kim; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law David Cooper (Karen), Ron Cooper (Paula), and Bill Rowles, and sisters-in-law Mary Stephenson (Mike), Ann Voland (Bill), and Ruth Kiger (Jeff).

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of life will be held on Thursday December 19, 2019 from 5-8pm in the chapel of Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.
